The third and final day of the 2nd FCI Conference, “From Data to Net Zero: AI-Driven Innovation for a Sustainable Saudi Cement Sector,” brought the conversation to the level where industry transformation is shaped, decisions are made, and priorities are set.
The day was dedicated to Strategic Dialogue, bringing together senior executives from Saudi cement companies, the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, national policymakers, and key stakeholders for high-level discussions on the future of the Saudi cement sector.
The day began with the opening ceremony, featuring welcome addresses and strategic perspectives from:
• Sir Edward Byrne, President of KAUST
• Eng. Turki Al-Babtain, Deputy Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources
• Eng. Mosleh Alemrani, Director of Building Materials and Industrial Minerals Development at the Saudi Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources
• Eng. Majed Osailan, National Cement Company
• Prof. Bassam Dally, Director, Future Cement Initiative, who presented the FCI Progress Report and Objectives
• Eng. Mohamed Zayed, who presented the EPD plans for the Saudi cement sector
The opening was followed by the EPD Tool Signing Ceremony and the FCI Awards Ceremony, recognizing contributions and achievements that support the advancement of a more sustainable and innovative cement sector.
The strategic dialogue then continued through three high-level sessions and panel discussions focused on:
1. Saudi Cement Sector Decarbonization Roadmap
2. AI Adaptation and Operational Excellence
3. Decarbonization Enablers
The discussions highlighted an important reality: achieving a low-carbon cement sector is not the responsibility of a single organization or a single technology. It requires coordinated action across industry, government, academia, technology providers, and the wider construction ecosystem.
Over three days, the FCI Conference brought together technical experts, researchers, technology providers, plant operators, industry leaders, and policymakers to connect data, technology, innovation, and strategy with the ambition of building a more competitive and sustainable Saudi cement sector.
As we successfully close the 2nd FCI Conference, we would like to thank all our speakers, delegates, exhibitors, ePoster presenters, partners, participants, organizers, and volunteers for contributing to three days of meaningful dialogue, knowledge exchange, and collaboration.
The journey from data to Net Zero continues.
