AI & Data Science – Cement Industry Master Class

KAUST Academy offers a 14-week blended program for engineers and specialists in the cement industry: 13 weeks online and five days on site at KAUST.

Participants progress from Python basics to cleaning plant data, building machine learning models, and presenting a quantified business case to plant management. All datasets, exercises, and capstone projects use cement industry data.

Program content

  • Weeks 1–6 | Foundations: NumPy and Pandas, visualization of kiln and laboratory signals, supervised learning, and model evaluation using later data.
  • Weeks 7–10 | Build and Predict: Clinker quality prediction competition, feature engineering with raw mix moduli, ensemble methods, plant economics KPIs, and SQL for production and laboratory tables.
  • Weeks 11–14 | Apply and Conclude: Anomaly detection for mills and fans, time series forecasting, and a five-day KAUST residency to present the capstone project to a panel and graduate.
