The specific heat consumption achieved on the two modern kiln lines is consistently close to their design specifications, reflecting well-managed combustion control, stable preheater operation, and disciplined fuel management.

On the electrical side, the plant operates four vertical raw mills and two legacy ball mills alongside five cement mills, producing OPC, SRC, and Oil Well Cement across the product range. The total plant specific power consumption per ton of cement reflects the blended performance of this mixed-vintage asset base and positions SCC among the more efficient multi-kiln operations in the Kingdom. The vertical mill fleet, which carries significantly lower specific power consumption per ton than the ball mill fleet, accounts for the majority of raw meal production volume, contributing to the overall electrical efficiency profile.

The power generation system completed a transition to natural gas as the fuel for captive power generation, supplemented by grid imports. This shift from heavy fuel oil to natural gas in the power plant has reduced the carbon intensity of the electricity generated on-site and improved combustion efficiency. Supply chain processes are securely integrated within the organization, and the company holds Aramco CCC cybersecurity certification confirming the security posture of the enterprise IT environment. An OT cybersecurity project is underway to further harden the operational technology network against unauthorized access, targeting compliance with international industrial cybersecurity standards.
The company has already deployed cloud computing for predictive maintenance use cases and has implemented the robotic quality lab as a live Industry 4.0 application. A third priority is extending secure connectivity across the full facility system portfolio, making production, asset, and dispatch data accessible in real time through mobile applications while maintaining the cybersecurity discipline the company has already established.

The SIRI assessment conducted in 2023 confirmed that SCC performs on par with or above the General Manufacturing industry average across all relevant dimensions, with particular strength in supply chain integration, workforce learning and development, and leadership competency. The assessment also confirmed that the company’s transformation strategy is being actively implemented in functional areas, not just formulated in planning documents.
